Position Summary:

Manages the Design Engineering Department in the development of new storage container designs and maintenance of existing products. Establish department goals, continuous improvement of processes and procedures that result in efficiency and quality of the manufacturing of Company products. Responsible for managing engineering staff throughout the design, development, and production of Company products from concept to prototype, maximizing production and ensuring high levels of reliability, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

· Establish goals and objectives for engineering department in the design, development and production of product from concept to prototype.

· Responsible for managing engineering staff to meet business goals and objectives and promote internal and external customer satisfaction.

· Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.

· Confer with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.

· Provide a professional level of engineering technical competence and guidance on the business decisions on achieving and delivering cost effective quality projects and goods on time.

· Interact with sales and marketing to develop specifications for product improvement and development.

· Provide technical support for proposal preparation including feasibility, material and specification requirements.

· Maintain drawings to correct revision level, Mil Specifications to current requirements of products, and the calibration system. Inspect, review, and approve all new and revised drawings as well as new designs and updates before being released to production.

· Review all bill of materials to assure parts and materials meet contract requirements.

· Assist with inspections of Company products and verify that specifications have been met.

· Assist with purchasing and production to resolve supplier and process issues.

Work Experience, Education, and Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, Mechanical Engineering preferred, with 4 years of relevant experience or a graduate degree with 2 years of relevant experience.

· Experience in 3D CAD, MS Office and ERP/MRP BOM modules preferred.

· Engineering Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of appropriate industry and engineering standards and principals.

· Communication: Talking to others to convey information effectively. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

· Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
